How I knew a friendship was real
In short for me personally this friendship feels like a breath of fresh air!
We have know each other for a long time now I think we’re coming up to a decade of friendship which has definitely come with some ups and downs but when you’re starting to mature and change as human beings is where your friendship goes through the ultimate test. Of course we’re not perfect friends there has been times where I’ve been jealous or we wouldn’t talk for months but something unique about our friendship is that we would come back every single time and the connection felt the same.
In elementary school we were attached at the hip but as we reached high school and made new friends, started jobs and ultimately had less time for each other we were forced to let each other grow and throughout this growing we knew they’re was no animosity towards one another.
In the recent months as we get closer to graduating high school and starting our adult lives I feel as though our friendship is making another transition as we mature. I’ve recognized this as we talk about college plans, mental health struggles, where we’d like to live one day, family dynamics, conversations that require trust and understanding.
It was last week when I was lying in bed feeling like not doing anything that a simple conversation gave me energy and encouraged me to turn the day around or when I was able to share advice that made them feel better that I had a refreshing feeling overcome me.
Friendship to me is supposed to feel easy, authentic, supportive and like a breath of fresh air!
